Happy Birthday Kate
Dear Kate,
We cant be with you today in person but we are with you in our hearts. Today is your first birthday and we are here at home, as far away from you as possible.
Just to let you know, you received a bunch of cards, a bunch of gifts and a bunch of phone calls today. You;re not even here yet and you've already made a great impact on a lot of people's lives.
We don't want you to miss a celebration so we've decided that we'll have your birthday party on January 20th. That's the 1st month anniversary of you being home. What a great time to celebrate your birthday as well. All your friends and family can come watch you play in your cake.
Please stay safe and healthy and we'll be there soon to be a family.

I just read your blog and sobbed and sobbed....It certainly would be hard not to have your baby home with you on her first birthday, but you'll have her in your arms in a few weeks and a big celebration when you come home...what's a few weeks.....

Happy Birthday Kate!! I hope you celebrated your big day in style!!
Just remember Mom and Dad, it's not about the firsts that you missed it's about all the firsts you will have. Way too many to even describe. Hope you were able to celebrate the day with much joy and happiness knowing you are Mom and Dad to someone very special.

Happy Birthday Kate! We always felt with XiuZhu how fitting it was for her to celebrate her first b-day with her family in China, as we would have ALL the rest! Like Penny said, there are many many first and they all are truly amazing experiences! 16 more days!! YAAAAAAAAAAAA
