Pandas and art

More bus trips today. We were off to see the Pandas at a local zoo today. Also hippos and an old tiger with a limp. The zoo conditions were real nice... much better than I expected. Nice than the Magnetic Hill Zoo. This is the quiet time at the zoo so alot was under construction and alot of the warm weather animals were not out.

After that, we stopped by an art gallery to see some local art. An instructor was there from a local art school and is doing up a scroll with Kate's Chinese name and birth date on it. They are going to delivery it to the hotel in the next day or so as it needs some time to be mounted.

Thats it for today. When we got back today most of the women and kids went up to the room and us men went touring around the local streets seeing all of the street vendors. We ended up at the Trust Mart to get some more supplies. Mostly comfort foods as we've all had enough of the food here.

We havent been awefully adventuresome when it comes to food. After seing the sites of the street vendors and small local shops, I dont think I'll be venturing too far from the hotel. Nobody here is venturing too far. Theres also an excellent Chinese restaurant on the second floor here and Jen and I ate and Jen had a beer and I had 2 and it cost us 90 Yuan. Thats about 12 bucks Canadian.

Pictures are downloading and we're off to the playroom to see how Kate will play. I'll post some pics in a bit.

Comments:
Great meal prices at the restaurant in the Hotel!!
Can't wait to see Kates scroll, sure it will be beautiful, looking forward to more photos.

We liked that restaurant too, felt "safe" to eat! LOL
Looking forward to more photos.

You guys are in rough shape if you're already sick of the food...and the CQ hote, in my estimation, has WAY better food than the Beijing one!! Get the Singapore Style Rice Vermicelli - enough to feed two of you - that was my go to dish - had it about 5 times when we were there!! Made a great lunch...Pizza #2 from the other restaurant was another staple! LOL!!

Glad all is going well...I'm off to check out your video now!!

Oh come on, you guys are missing all the awesome food!!! The best food is the local stuff. I agree with PW; you're in rough shape if you're already sick of the food! *grin* We personally can't eat "Canadian Chinese food" anymore - only the authentic stuff.
